Sign Description
Cancer is the fourth sign. It has no exaltation, and its ruler is Mercury. As its ruler is Mercury, it represents neutrality, attention to detail and curiosity, like a Sherlock Holmes observing physical reality.
Some rumors tend to attribute stronger sexuality to Cancer, but this could be due to the fact that they tend to see man and woman as one and the same entity, able to understand each other as if they were one. There is also certainly an influence from the Nakshatra of Rohini, which, during our era, is located within Cancer. Rohini has a particular mythological story, linked to creativity and sexuality.
Unlike the Greek description, Cancer is represented by a man and a woman intertwined, one holding a mace and the other a musical instrument. This illustrates construction and destruction.
It is often said that this sign is bipolar, but in reality, each sign represents a perfect symbolism of God and not a flaw. It is also the first sign represented by a human, and here by two humans, further reinforcing this idea. Humans have the ability to conceive both creative and destructive ideas.

The ruler of Cancer being Mercury, if Mercury is well placed, this intellectual side is much stronger. On the other hand, a Mercury in Pisces will reduce intellectual abilities, making it more oriented towards the invisible, which is the domain of Jupiter and not of Mercury.
Afflictions on the sign of Cancer cause problems during the period from 4 to 12 years, it is the transition period from child to adult. This period is important for understanding the basics of how society works.
